A Study of the Bible the First Christians Used - the Old Testament There are no dispensations or 'Ages' in the Bible. There is only one single Story. A story of God who created Man and who loved him, even to the point of dying for him. This is the story of all stories; the story of Jesus, who even interacted with Mankind before his incarnation in the New Testament. A College Level Course Presented by Roger Born SYLLABUS FOR JESUS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT INSTRUCTOR Roger Born E-Mail: CLASS REQUIREMENTS — Be open A willingness to see new things about Jesus that might not have been apparent from our regular line of teaching. A desire to know our Lord better. A desire to learn new ways to present Jesus to the world. Notebooks and handouts will be provided. A good Bible with notes and helps is recommended, as well as any books about the Old Testament. A working knowledge of Hebrew is not required for this class. COURSE DESCRIPTION — College level The Apostles and the first century Christians only had the Old Testament for their Bible. Later the Gospels and the New Testament letters were written and spread throughout the churches. Most of the teachings about Jesus came from the Old Testament. This is intriguing because Christians today know so little about how to see Jesus in the Old Testament. We do not know how to teach Jesus from these letters the way the first Christians did. We firmly believe that Jesus is both in the Old Testament, and the Gospel is there as well. Any Christian, after taking this class, should be able to use the Old Testament to teach Jesus and the Gospel message to anyone who is open to that avenue of teaching.
